This thing is a BEAST!
I will begin by saying that I got this machine as a gift, and it has been one of the best things to land in my kitchen since my crock pot. It has surpassed my crock pot, honestly. I LOVE this thing!
I have to admit that I have not yet used the recipes in the book. I like to cook what I like, so I just go to the cooking references for approximate times and temperatures. Sometimes I just estimate on my own with no reference at all. So far, each 'mad scientist' experiment I have done with this thing has ended well, and sometimes even better than I had expected. So far, nothing has turned out badly...unless I seasoned it wrong.
My cooking style is very geared toward throwing things together and hoping for the best, which is why I refer to it as 'mad scientist' cooking. I am very sure that if you are a by-the-recipe type and want to use the recipes included you'd do just as well. I do mean to try one of those recipes at some point, but for now I must boast about what I have discovered!
It will air-crisp better (and faster) than my actual air fryer. The chicken tenders, meatballs, and French fries come out FAR better cooked, and certainly more evenly done than my air fryer. I even did flanken style ribs with the air crisp and they turned out great. I no longer need a stand-alone air fryer!
It cooks rice faster than a rice cooker, and just as well. This has been a major time saver when last minute meals are needed. You use the pressure cooker side for this, and it does take the pressure cooker a bit of time to 'pressurize', but once it's done the rice only cooks for a few minutes and it's done. I'm so dead serious. It's incredible. I no longer need a stand-alone rice cooker!
It makes amazing soup, and far quicker than stove top or crock pot. If you're like me, when you're not feeling well you immediately want a good, hearty, homemade soup. Making soup is time consuming, under normal circumstances. Prep is the only time-consuming part of making soup with this machine. So, when you're already feeling under the weather this cuts out so much waiting time. Again, you use the pressure cooker side, and after the preheat it only took about 20 minutes until I had a perfectly done soup. I'm going to hold on to my crock pot, but I no longer need a crock pot!
This cooking machine is so much fun to use, and it cuts cooking time down so much that it's making me feel spoiled. I wish I could just give these things away to everyone, so that they can feel the same joy I do when using it.
If you'd like to see just how simple it is to use, check out my little video below. I decided to make a soup with the Ninja Foodi, and it actually turned out quite delicious.
Thanks for reading, and God bless you!
